The final game of the 2017 season will see UWA host Joondalup City as the boys in green seek to secure a consecutive top five finish.

Last week saw Michael Janssen's troops endure a frustrating evening in the south-west against a resilient Rockingham side in the 2-2 result with the boys now keen to end their campaign with a win in front of the home fans.

With three points still needed to ensure a fifth-placed finish, head coach Janssen is determined to not only achieve that but also better their total points tally from last season (club record 32 in Division 1).

"Finishing off the 2017 campaign with a win would be perfect to get the best result and beat last years high with two games less," he said.

"As I said, not just the fifth spot is the reward for a win tomorrow, we need to secure this spot for ourselves with a great home performance for our supporters at the Mac."

Janssen is full of praise for this week's opponents, who currently sit in eighth spot.

"Joondalup had a great season already and were never in the mix for relegation."

"Credit to their whole State League department for managing this result in 2017, as Joondalup surprised some teams and were not expected to be where they are. They definitely deserve to be in this division," the German added.

Last time the two sides met it was a spirited come from behind victory at Iluka Sports Complex for uni, with Luke Randazzo bagging a late winner for the visitors and it's sure to be another tough contest tomorrow in sunny conditions.

"We have to take the lead of the game on one hand and on the other hand keep control of their attack. It is not an easy encounter and we do not want to make it as hard as it was at their place again with a late comeback," Janssen said.

In team news, Ranjeet Singh is overseas and will be replaced by Carlos Fernanda between the sticks.
