UWA will be looking to claim the club's first ever Night Series title this Saturday night when they take on fellow State League side Fremantle City at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.
The squad will be making history at Inglewood United's ground this weekend in their first appearance in the Final of the pre-season competition, but the focus is firmly on ensuring there's more to celebrate than just making it to the big dance.
Head Coach Michael Janssen is very pleased for the playing group, but as usual, the German is remaining grounded and engrossed with the task at hand.
"Being the first ever final for the club, it's definitely a big deal for everyone involved at UWA. The players are excited and they deserve it after all their hard work in the competition so far."
"First we have to deliver and lift our performance as it will be a tough game, but I hope we can bring a big crowd to Inglewood to support us."
Uni will be facing off against Fremantle City, who claimed a dramatic penalty shoot-out win in their semi-final with Wanneroo. City won 8-7 on penalties after fighting back from 4-2 down to force the dramatic finish and Janssen is well aware of their capabilities.
"Fremantle, like us, are unbeaten in this competition. They are strong and hard to break down."
Skipper Josh Marocchi can't wait to be on the big stage this weekend as he praised the commitment and character of his team.
"The feeling and standard amongst the squad is outstanding. Finals are what you play football for and the boys are absolutely buzzing to finish the job at hand."
It's a massive occasion for the Western Suburbs club as it looks to grow and build upon last season's form.
Come support the lads on Saturday night with free entry to the ground confirmed.
