ROBBIE BLACK FIGHTS FOR POSSESSION AGAINST FREMANTLE CITY

It was just one of those days at Hilton Reserve, as UWA were left frustrated by a determined Fremantle outfit who held onto to an early goal to win 1-0.

Uni started the stronger side, with Tim Robertson's running and vision down the left-hand side causing issues for the Fremantle defence.

A rash challenge on Kretowicz by Fremantle captain, Robbie Black's resulting free-kick fizzed just wide of the post at the 11th-minute mark.

Fremantle opened the scoring shortly after with Lawrence Lewis tapping in from close range after Alec Robinson’s long range effort was initially saved by keeper Alex Preece.

UWA continued their dominance on possession despite the early setback but struggled to execute the final product.

influential midfielder Conor Devlin entered the fray on the 64 minute mark with Michael Janssen also shiftingTim Robertson central as Uni searched desperately for an equalizer.

UWA were denied a penalty at 70 minutes with a Fremantle defender seemingly blocking Kretowicz's cross with his arm.

Preece pulled off a fantastic reaching save from a City set-piece to keep the game alive, but it just wasn't to be on a frustrating afternoon at Hilton Reserve.
