It was a day to forget for uni as they succumbed to a heavy defeat at the hands of a clinical Dianella side away from home.

After dominating large patches of the opening stanza in response to Angel Andres' opening minute goal, Bryce Conway's half-volley equaliser proved in vain with Friday Zico restoring the home sides lead on the stroke of half-time.

Dianella took their momentum into the second-half with immediate effect, as they made it 3-1 almost straight from the restart.

Zico completed a hat-trick, while Andres, Ibrahim Hamad, Dhamon Kalamaras and Kenel Mouithys added the others.

In the earlier fixtures, the 18's continued their impressive form with another 3-0 win, while the reserves played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in a gritty performance.

FFA Cup 5th Round - ECU Joondalup 5-0 UWA

UWA have exited the FFA Cup following a classy showing by NPL high-flyers ECU Joondalup.

The visitors put on a brave showing and the game was very much in the balance during the opening half an hour, but the quality in front of goal proved too much for uni as they entered half-time 4-0 down.

In a much more even second-half showing, with Daryl Nicol's expertly placed free-kick the only addition to the scoreline as it ended 5-0 to ECU.

The major positive to come from the encounter was the debut display from Sam Guthridge who certainly didn't look out of place at right-back.
