A lacklustre performance from UWA wasn’t aided by an absolutely ruthless Forrestfield outfit who snapped their 3 game losing streak in style by putting 12 past UWA Nedlands FC.

The first half started quite evenly with neither side able to seriously test either goalkeeper. Forrestfield entertained the majority of the ball and were probing; however, UWA were a constant threat on the break through Alex Kretowicz and Andrew Xydas.

Forrestfield finally broke the deadlock after half an hour of play. A strong run down the right flank was finished with a great cross into the box from Sani Sinclair. UWA fullback Tristan Taylor was able to get his foot behind it but could only clear it as far as Liam Merigan, who took it under control and found space on his left before riffling it past Alex Preece to make it 1-0.

UWA had a chance to equaliser shortly afterwards when Joshua Marocchi rose high to meet an Andrew Xydas corner; however, the centre back couldn’t get over it enough and his effort rattled the crossbar.

Forrestfield recovered quickly and were able to double their lead before the break. A great ball through the middle of the park sent Forrestfield’s winger in the clear, who provided a great ball across the face to give Ben Rogers the easiest of finishes and make it 2-0 at half time.

UWA weren’t able to start the second half strongly with Sani Sinclair scoring within the opening minutes. Sinclair pounced on a UWA defence miscommunication and raced clear to finish one-on-one with Preece.

The next 15 minutes were all Forrestfield with multiple goalscorers taking advantage of a disappointing UWA outfit to race 8-0 clear at the 60th minute.

UWA finally found the back of the net when Alex Kretowicz slotted one past Luke Martino to pull it back to 8-0.

However, Forrestfield were relentless and the attacking force of Sinclar and Merigan combined to put another four past Preece as the game finished 12-1.

It was a tough day all round for UWA. The 18s produced an excellent performance but were unable to get any reward for their effort, valiantly going down 3-2. The Reserves fell short in similar fashion, losing out to a second half strike as it ended 1-0 to Forrestfield.
