A rampant display from Joondalup United has seen UWANFC slip to their first defeat in five games and leaves United in prime position to clinch the All Flags State League Division One title for 2016.

Things started poorly for UWA as they conceded a penalty within the first five minutes. Marco Murray brought down the Joondalup striker as he went past the centre back and the resultant spot kick from Lee Jones was converted with ease.

Lee Jones scored his second of the game shortly afterwards with a sublime finish into the corner, leaving UWA keeper Ranjeet Sekhon with no chance.

Jones had a first half hat-trick only minutes later when Sekhon took him down inside the area, the forward yet again kept his composure from the spot to make it 3-0.

However, Sekhon recovered well and produced a string of fine saves to deny Joondalup striker Lee Jones from adding to his tally.

Callum Stocks rounded off a strong half for the home side when his tap in made it 4-0.

The second half was an improvement for UWA, chances appeared at the other end, most notably when Matt Deveraux's header was well saved by James Bosdet.

However, Joondalup were too clinical at the other end to give UWA any chance of getting back into the game. Lee Jones scored his fourth of the afternoon after he latched onto a fantastic ball from United keeper Bosdet and Jones calmly finished past Sekhon to make it 5-0.

UWA's afternoon was summed up when a miscommunication at the back saw Sekhon caught in possession by Jones and the striker walked the ball in to make it 6 for the afternoon.

Joondalup now enter the final round of the season on top of the All Flags State League Division One ladder, whilst UWA will need things to go their way if they have any chance of finishing in the top half of Division One for the first time in the club's history.

The Reserves were handed similar treatment by two time champions Joondalup United, with the game finishing 6-0. However, the 18's ensured the club didn't return home empty handed as they fought back terrifically from 3-0 down to take the game 4-3.
