New Junior Structures and EOI for 2025

UWANFC is to share our new, consolidated football structures and offerings for 2025. Football West’s long-awaited announcement of a new junior football pyramid is welcome progress for WA football – and at UWANFC we are poised to benefit from the changes. In 2025, we intend to enter our Academy teams from U13s up into the new Junior Development Leagues, as well as enter the Youth Club Championships (boys and girls).

Academy EOIs and more information, including trial dates and information, can be found here.

‘B’ and ‘C’ stream information and EOIs (formerly Development and Recreational) streams can be found here (MiniRoos U5-U12) or here (Juniors U13s+).

For a long time, we have been locked out of competing in the highest U13s-U16s boys divisions, being locked out of the closed NPL Juniors (Boys) system. While we have still developed many incredible boys and coaches through our Academy system, we have struggled to retain talented junior boys at the club while we could not offer competition at the highest level.

With the abolishment of the NPL Juniors, to be replaced in 2025 by a home/away league structure that is entirely merit based, complemented by the Youth Club Championships that provide more opportunities for club’s that focus on development, talented boys will no longer need to leave UWANFC from U13s to seek the best competition in Perth. This is incredibly exciting for our club, and which we’re excited to enter.

For our girls, who could already compete in the highest divisions as there was no NPL Junior equivalent, these new structures bring equity to the table. Previously, the highest ranked girls teams would have far less fixtures than the highest ranked boys teams – from 2025, the new structures bring parity to each side, increasing the formal playing time of our top girls teams.

We can now provide the entire spectrum of football pathways at MiniRoo, Junior, and Senior levels – catering to recreational, aspirational, and high performance players. Our program goes beyond football performance – we aim to provide a holistic experience guided by key principles that will ensure that all of our players are supported to be the best version of themselves, in a community that recognises the importance of participation (not just winning).
